Englandfahrt der 8. Klassen

Gleich am ersten Tag nach den Osterferien fuhren 40 Schülerinnen der 8. Klassen für eine Woche nach Brighton in Südengland. Über die erlebnisreichen Tage in England berichtet Esther Nett.

Our trip to England

On Monday we met at 7 o´clock at the “Stadthalle” in Speyer. Our trip went through the Netherlands, Belgium and France. At half past four we came to the ferry and the passport control. We crossed the Channel by ferry and at 9:30 pm we arrived at the meeting-point where our host parents picked us up

On the second day, we went to Brighton and made a city-rally. After visiting Brighton we travelled to a castle named “Arundel”. There we saw many interesting things and the church of Arundel. Outside we took a group photo and went into the city in groups.

On Wednesday we went to London in a 2 hour-trip by coach. We we walked to the Thames and made a boat-tour. We saw the Gherkin, the London Eye, Big Ben and the Tower Bridge. After that we went from Big Ben to Buckingham Palace and then to the National Gallery. In the evening we had a little free time to go shopping in the city.

On the next day our coach took us to the cliffs near Eastbourne. We walked to the beach for a long time. Later we went to Hastings, where we had afternoon tea. It was a surprise of our teachers and really funny. We ate scones, drank tea and danced. In the evening we had to pack our bags, because it was the last evening in England.

On the last day in England we thanked our host parents and said goodbye to them. We travelled to Canterbury where we had a guided tour in the Cathedral. After that we had a lot of time in the city. For the even song we went to the church again to pray. We were welcomed as “the students group from Edith-Stein-Gymnasium, Speyer in Germany”. At 7 pm our coach came and took us to the ferry. The trip back to Germany took the whole night. At 8 am we arrived, tired but happy, at the “Stadthalle” in Speyer where our families were waiting for us.
